There is a strong emphasis to use LeetCode to pass SWE/Data Engineer interviews at FAANG. I am curious if LeetCode/HackerRank also covers the questions non-faang would ask eg tech: spotify, airbnb, linkedin etc finance: goldman sachs, jpm etc other finance: hedge funds like two sigma, citadel etc consulting: mckinsey, etc other: fintech / contract roles / asset managers etc Got some time on my hands so want to prepare well for a good offer later this year!
Generally leetcode. Some will have extra on top of leetcode. Front-end or non-swe may go without leetcode. Senior may go without leetcode. Lower paying companies may go without leetcode. Data engineer is 50/50 will have leetcode. I got an offer with just behavioral and system design from BB.
What is BB? Big bank? I know JPM is like this but GS has HackerRank tests no? My question was more general like it may not be exactly LeetCode but if I do enough LeetCode and HackerRank I should be good?
He probably means Bloomberg
I’ve seen leetcode in non-fang SWE roles. However, it’s usually more easy/medium type problems. In fang I feel your chance for questions leans more medium/hard and there will be more follow up questions around time-complexity, memory, trade offs , etc. In non-fang it’s sometimes less rigorous and just has to work. Either way leetcode won’t hurt. Just with other companies you might not get any of the difficult algo problems.
Thanks! Yeah it was more to try and focus on a few things to prepare for the maximum amount of good offers basically and not spread myself too thinly! :)
My Airbnb technical interview had no leetcode. More practical challenges were asked related to web apps.
