Received 2 offers for T3 Principal Mechanical Engineer, they won’t reveal the compensation to me until I’ve decided which team I prefer. Received one offer in El Segundo as part of their Vehicle Engineering team in the Aeronautics sector and the other in Redondo Beach Space Park as part of their Mechanical Ground Systems group in Strategic Space Systems Division. Can anyone who has worked in these divisions either currently or previously share their trajectories, or can even shed some light on which would be a better program? I’m primarily interested in wanting to do more NPI than sustaining, which I am doing a lot of in my current role. The El Segundo site seemed to be more mass production focused but with a lot of the assembling occurring offsite, supporting a number of different programs, while in Space Park the projects seemed to be more focused on one large program with most of the work occurring in-house. YOE: 5 years with master TC: 93K #airline #aviation #northropgrumman #ngc
I’ve been to both locations for various programs. El Segundo is like 100yrs old and feels like it’s going to collapse from neglect. Space Park is kept nice and seems like Leadership is investing there. No comment on the roles, but SP seems like a better location.
I decided to go with the team in Space Park and the base pay is $115K. Low ball?
Lol it seems I may have been too late in seeing this but I wouldn’t neglect the aeronautics sector, they’re growing faster than space now if you look at the delta financials and there’s a big boom in aerospace in general. $115K seems a bit low with a masters than what I thought for Space Park, maybe they aren’t growing as fast as before. But I wouldn’t reject it if it’s still higher than what you’re making now at Abbott
On second thought if that’s near or at the middle of the pay range then I don’t think that’s entirely a lowball offer
Space Park has 10k people and many programs. Many are satellite programs. Some aren’t. Lots of opportunities for mobility. I never went to el segundo site but it’s very close and some of my teammates went there for meetings and stuff. They even had a bus shuttle between them at one point pre COVID. If I were you I would pick space park. You will in the middle of a lot of cool stuff. For T3 my guess is you will be around 120-135. It should be similar.
