Any views on RTL Design in Qualcomm GPU design team vs Nvidia GPU MMU team. Learning is priority. YOE : 5.5 + MS Qcom : Base : 205k RSU : 200k over 3 yrs Joining Bonus : 35k Cash bonus target : 10% Refresher : 60k spread over 3 yrs Title : Staff Location : Santa Clara Nvidia : Base : 185k RSU : 280k over 4 yrs Joining Bonus : 30k Title : IC4 Location : Durham #nvidiasalary #nvidiacareers #nvidia #qualcomm #qualcommsalary #apple #amd
Nvidia offer is insane for you YoE and location. Qualcomm base is strong but ur saving goes long way in NC. That being said, you should be able learn in both the companies. Pick based on your interaction with the team dynamics
I thought the Nvidia offer was for Santa Clara as well damn... that's insane for LCOL bracket.
You would be a fool to reject Nvidia
Any idea about GPU MMU team?
Why would OP be a fool to consider options and not accept blindly?
Qcom base with staff is very good
Have to account for the location. They're at par or Nvidia is paying more depending on how much you attribute to difference in cost of living and taxes
Yes. Nvidia any day is better considering future growth . 205 staff in scl is very good comparing qcom staff level
Push for nvidia to santa clara. Bay area gives more exposure
MMU team us located in durham only. They want ppl to join there
Qualcomm RTL team leadership is very good. If you are willing to do things , there is no limit. Work culture is very good in GPU HW team. GPU is very important IP for QCOM and ur staff base says that ( staff in other teams are way less paid compared to GPU ). I cannot say much about NVIDIA. I was offered 260k base + 400k RSU + 35k joining bonus for IC5. I heard their ESPP is very good ( it seems lowest value of 2 year window is used for ESPP. Verify that once ). I got better offer in Amazon hence opted for that.
What is your YoE? When was that offer from Nvidia?
What’s your Amazon offer and level?
Go for nvidia…qualcomm gpu is good when compared with internal teams within Qualcomm. In open market qualcomm gpu designer has no added advantage(except if you go to intel/samsung). I would say go for nvidia due to brand/tc/growth. Qualcomm is not going anywhere in terms of stock/tc growth
Once you work in graphics , u cant switch to anything else? In Nvidia im getting MMU.. not sure how challenging and rewarding it will be in long run from career point of view
With 5yoe that is the question you need to ask, not the TC question. GPU will give you a lot of portable skills.
Qcom stock price probably won't go up or down much. Nvidia stock may keep going up or crash way back down.
Is Google paying more or less than these numbers ?
Not even a valid comparison. You are golden if you are in the GPU org at Nvidia. Refreshers would be pretty kickass if you do well.
Can you give me some data point on the refreshers?
Qcom stock will stay at this level for the next 3-4 years lol. In contrast, nvda will either become 4-5T or crash down hard. It’s unlikely to stay the same level. Its all about your taste whether you are adventurous or not.
Do you have any location preference? Are you on visa? Are you looking to settle for long term in a particular company?
No yes no
Go to Bay Area
