Lack of diversity in engineering division at X
I am expecting an offer from Nvidia soon. They gave the updated numbers below for IC4 hardware role. 190k base + 320k RSUs for 4 yrs + 60k bonus (updated) How is the offer ? Also, should I stay or switch ? Current TC : 220k YOE : BS+1+MS+4.5 #nvidia #hardware #offer
Thanks for the info
Yes, for Bay Area. What was the YOE for that offer ?
Updated my comment. 3-4 YOE
Base and RSU could potentially be a bit higher, have similar offer for non-bay with 8 YOE. TC seems pretty good already at AMD and this would be a decent bump. How is your role, team, and growth prospects? If TC bump isn't enough to pull you away, what do you do at AMD and what are you looking for at Nvidia?
Its similar role. So, I am thinking more in terms of overall company
TC being equal, it could be a tough call. But I would lean Nvidia, even though AMD might have better upside in the near term if everything goes right. This is just my, probably naive, opinion. AMD is in a pretty good position, they've got 2 valuable pieces of computing in CPU and GPU that Intel and Nvidia are both trying to also get but from different directions. They're also executing well. So from a glance it would seem like AMD is in an enviable position and they just need to keep executing and they'll catch up to both. But, that's the thing. AMD is generally the follower, Nvidia is the driver. I feel like AMD is more of a jack of all trades follower and just looking to take some market share, whereas Nvidia is the company that has been defining and implementing the new tech for new use cases and adding new markets. In tech, I would rather be part of the company that is pushing the boundaries and driving the future. Also, from a career development perspective, I think it would be useful to gain experience at other companies and develop a broader network. If things don't work out, you can always go back to AMD.
What role?
ASIC design
Congratulations ๐ I think thatโs a solid offer for your YOE.
Wow they gave you IC4 for MS plus 4.5 yoe! Really Impressive ๐๐ป๐๐ป
Yes I am surprised too. Nvidia recruiter told me that to be considered for ic4 I need minimum 6yoe
I don't follow why you posted this. Are there any reasons you would want to stay at AMD after getting an offer for twice as much money at nVidia? There aren't any included in your post.
Op, do you have any offer in hand? If yes you can leverage to bump up your offer! Else u have very less room to wiggle! Someone here was offered 170 base/ 200/4 stocks/ 60 signon for MS+6 yoe but the person had strong offer from another company!
No!! Unfortunately, I donโt have any other offer. Was that offer for IC3 ?
Yes it was an IC3! They might be able to push your stocks and sign-on! But I think they have pretty standard offer and they donโt budge much unless you have competitive offer then they match!
At OP, how many days after your virtual on-site did you get the offer?
Negotiate more. AMD will counter this number since itโs only 13% increase. Take amdโs counter number to nvda. Congrats ๐๐พ๐ and good luck!
Is this for bay area ? I have 1 data point for a recent IC3 offer. (Not me, heard from someone with 3-4 YOE) 160 base/240 stocks/40 signon Based on this maybe RSU and sign on can go up ? Congrats on the offer!
240k worth of stocks or 240 Nvidia stock units ?
$ 240k
