Finally got done with the Oath ceremony and was surprised with the facts that were mentioned before the ceremony took place .I mean not surprised but I feel like when we are on blind we are in an echo chamber and don’t realize there is a big big part of this country that doesn’t belong to tech industry and is thriving and living the American dream. So here are some of the facts 1. Total 450 people were part of my ceremony on that day and there were 2 ceremonies that day so in total that day we had over 900 people who became citizens .Now these ceremonies happen every other week (speaking only about california)so in a month around 1800 people become citizens officially just in Cali . 2. In my ceremony there were citizens from 57 countries who moved to US including countries like Sweden , Norway , France and Switzerland . 3. Out of 450 people , Philippines had the highest number of candidates , followed by China and then India . Now these are not facts but my perception from the ceremony 1. Age group with the most candidates was above 50. 2. Mostly it was chain migration where the whole family was granted citizenship ( refugee/ asylum) 3. People were really happy when the ceremony was completed . I could see people breaking down and really crying while smiling ear to ear ! We at blind think tech industry should be granted all the GC’s because according to us we are the only ones doing the noble work but there are hundreds of thousands of people trying to come to this country and make a life for themselves . Have been thinking about the above points for last one week and thought should try and sum it up . #misc
I am looking forward to citizenship next year. How long did it take between your N-400 and the ceremony?
