Hi, I have two offers please add your thoughts on which one is better interms of carrer growth and work culture Offer 1 : Business Manager, Capital One Location : Mclean, VA Comp : 154K annually Sign on : 10k Annual Bonus : 13k 401(k) : 100% Match first 3% 50% on next 3% Offer 2 : Senior Data Scientist, Sam's Club Location : Dallas, TX Comp : 132k annual Sogn on : 5k Annual Bonus : 25k Shares : 70k first year ( 3 years vesting with equal maturity per year) And 35k from 2nd year Not clear on 401k Any inputs regarting the work life balence would be really helpful. Highly appreciate your inputs
Any of those companies offer 401k matching?
Sam's and all of walmart won't match till you work a full year.
I would choose Sam’s club. Capital one has horrible work culture except if you land in right team and McLean is way expensive than Dallas Texas.
BM at C1 is a shit role. DS at Sam is better than BM at C1
Will you eat or spend culture?
Not much difference in terms of monitary value. So I'm considering other things as well
This is x4 right? Your sign on for Sams is ridiculously low. Request 25k sign on 170k base Is that 35k in signing bonus grant? Or 70k in signing bonus? Year 1 you don't get any rsu granting. It starts year 2. So it's 0, 35, 35, 35 assuming you don't get a sign on year 1 bonus grant.
I have requested the same. The HR team is extremely slow and they basically took 1 week to increase the base by 2k it's basically their final offer. About stocks it's 35k annual, but with a sign on of additional 35k in the beginning
Wow they give you such a low base at x4 level. That's the low end of x3. Which means its basically low end of x4... Do you have competing offers?
Make it a poll
Done
Capital One: WLB is great. Everything else is horrible. Incompetent leadership everywhere. Go with Sam's for your own good. Left Capital One recently
Sams if you want a tech role. BA within Capital One has great career path, but it also makes it challenging if you want to switch to tech role in the future. Most BAs at Capital One just use SQL & Excel.
many BAs make it to fintechs and DSs at FAANGs
If you are talking about Product Analytics DS, yes, but not MLDS. Take Meta as an example, I don’t think their DS in analytics does modeling at all.
Not sure if this make a difference but the role is BM not BA. Also howz the WLB for BM at cap one ?
Sorry, what is BM? Business Analysis Manager? I think the only roles that requires occasional overtime is SWE/DE in a customer-facing/mission critical product teams (like the EASE app). All the other roles are pretty chill.
