I'm a developer looking for work. Got these two offers: SDET @ Mathworks: TC 125k SDE @ Third party vendor working with FAANG: TC 140 In terms of work interest, I don't know if I would like SDET (I haven't done it before). I really enjoy being a developer though. The TC is lower at Mathworks but at least it is more stable I think. Any thoughts or advice? #mathworks #faang #offer #tech #swe #engineering #software #sdet
It is easy to move from SDET to SDE at MathWorks. Also 125k for SDET looks good for MathWorks, what is your YOE?
2 YOE
Is the offered base 125k? That’s pretty high for 2 YOE and for SDET. Take it. Do you have advanced degree(s)? You have SWEs making 135k base and they have more and harder work to do than SDETs.
Yes I have a masters from top 10 school

Contracting jobs are shitty. Doesnt matter who the client is, they'll give you the worst work in their team. I would say join a FTE job and keep looking for SWE jobs outside if you cant switch to a SWE role internally.
