I cleared Tesla interviews for a staff level embedded software engineering position. This is in Autopilot/DOJO under the Silicon Development Group. The recruiter asked me what my expectations were for compensation. I am currently working at Apple with a TC of 360K. I have a total experience of 9 years. Since Tesla doesn't give cash bonuses, my initial hunch is to ask for 250K base and 800K in RSUs. What do you all think about this? Should I go higher? #Tesla #embedded #firmware #engineering #software #swe
Have a few Tesla friends that are staff level SWE, none are making close to 250k base though. Then again, autopilots are sort of a different org within Tesla so they could be paying a lot better
How much are they making?
250K… good luck with that. My guess is 200k
200/600-800 I guess.
As high as possible to compensate for Elon’s unpredictability.
Ask more than 1 Million RSU as within a year TESLA stock going to be shit
800/4=200, except in the Metaverse where it's what the f ever you dream it to be.

Biden meant “illegal” immigrants, right?
You should ask for at least a million in RSUs.
Are you serious? As in, are people getting that much as embedded sw engineers?
If you were already planning to ask for $800K in RSUs then I assume your skills are very unique and valuable. A million in RSUs is typical for senior directors so I don’t see why a talented SWE can’t ask for that.
