Is meta really worth the wait?
Have two offers that are quite different, one being a public company and one company which is owned by Amazon. Need some feedback mostly on the Zoox offer given that it has quite a few moving pieces Palo Alto - Principal Engineer 210K Base 25K Sign-on 234K RSUs vesting over 4 years 20% Bonus Zoox - L4 Software Engineer 200K Base 40K Sign-on 155k Amazon Rsus vesting over 3 year 90K Zar units vesting over 6 years, first cliff at 3 years. Zar is some kind of stock option which is given as a grant. And is liquid after vesting. Projected value called out by recruiter - $10 per unit at end of 4 years, $16 at end of 6 years. How true are those projected values can someone at zoox shed some light on that. Looking at those offers and believing in those numbers Zoox offers do look better long term, But I will have to stay at the company for at least 4 years which is a long time. #zoox #paloaltonetworks
yeah our ZARs option was really hard to wrap my head around at first but if you actually believe in the product and mission, the target numbers your recruiter suggested are actually way below what av competitors are valued at. just take a look at cruise's valuation (my opinion, but I'd like to think we are ahead of their tech). not the usual silicon valley tech company comp package but well worth it. wouldn't be here otherwise
What are your thoughts on Zoox tech compared to waymo?
How's zoox tech comapred to Cruise?
My recruiter told me 30x ZAR value in 6 years, so hopefully that 16 number is mostly on point for my own sake. Seems possible given Cruise worth $30B last year.
Ask anyone who joined the company in the years prior to acquisition how accurate their recruiter's "projected values" turned out to be.
