Hey guys, I'm in a situation here.. I accepted Rivian's offer a couple of weeks ago and they are currently in the process of transferring my visa. But I got a couple of other offers today. Please let me know what you think is a better offer or should I even consider accepting another offer at this stage. Rivian offer(Bay Area) - TC ~ 200k SE2 - Base 148k + 160k RSUs + 10k signing bonus + relocation benefits(they are great) + 5% annual bonus of base salary Nordstrom offer(Seattle) - TC ~ 192k SE2 - Base 160k + 10k signing bonus + relocation benefits(they are good too) + 20% annual bonus of base salary and no RSUs Apptio offer(Atlanta, remote role) - TC ~ 160k SE2 - Base 160k + 10k signing bonus I feel like the Rivian stock potential is huge but I would love some opinions from you guys.. Current TC -115k YOE - 2.5 #engineering #software #swe #offer #offers
You seem to be in early stages of your career. Go with the offer where you have good learning potential.
These offers all seem very comparable, I would probably base my decision either on location or the team (learning and growth opportunities). Remember, you could be at an awesome company doing awesome things but on a crappy team where you're building IT apps internally and you don't really learn anything.
Wildly diff work imo you should choose based on what drives you.
Go Rivian
Definitely consider cost of living too. Bay Area will leave you broke at $200k π
Bay area offer is a tad low for 2.5 yoe. Seattle and Atl offers are better
how's bettercloud doing?
Shit ton of attrition early last year. Bad bad. Directors, VPs, architects, and senior SWE all jumping within a few months of each other. Might've had something to do with pandemic layoffs the year before that.
Rivian is the shit hole. @hamst3r get lost. U loser
Rivian is the shit,w hole life ahead of you. He meant to sayπ
Nordstrom offer looks good for the base, can go higher for signing bonus ($20k-$25k+)
Your Nordstrom E2 offer is on the higher side of the current range we have. I would say learning opportunities are great in Nordstrom considering you land in those teams. Yearly bonus is variable though (40-60 split and depends on company performance). Try pushing your base more because that's the real truth nowadays.
Thanks for the information.. Can you please provide the TC range for E2 and E3 levels?

Congrats on the offers. Curious why you think the Rivian stock potential is huge? $32 billion market cap, $1 million in revenue last quarter, losing a whopping $1.23 billion. It is wildly overpriced in a sector with more and more competition.
Imo Rivian is one of the very few EV makers actually producing and delivering vehicles. It has lost a lot of value for sure but the potential still remains. Also, I believe in order for the EV industry to thrive all these companies will have to come together when it comes to the electric charge stations. Tesla has its own line of products but Rivian on the other hand has their own separate niche of products and they are backed by good investors.. That being said it's still a risk.
I guess ultimately it's up to you if you believe in it but there's plenty of companies going EV. Charging stations are almost an after thought in terms of profits. Ford backed out of working on an EV with Rivian because they realized they don't need them. Again, in 2021 they delivered 920 vehicles, made $55 million in revenue, and lost $4.7 billion. I'm not saying it doesn't have the potential to succeed but this company is not worth $32 billion as of today. If it was valued at around $1 billion (probably still too high), the risk would be a no brainer.
