I currently have 2 offers (YOE: Masters + 4) Apple: 160k + 100k rsu (over 4 years) + 40k bonus Intel: 155k + 100k rsu (over 3 years) +30k bonus Apple refreshers are more lucrative than Intel. Intel pays ~10k quarterly bonus that Apple doesn’t. Having said that, do those numbers look fair? (No more room for negotiations)
Great offer, I worked at Intel 10 years and now I'm at Apple. You should go to Apple, Intel is notorious for layoffs. The new ceo is excellent but he will surely cut divisions. Also, Intel promotes very slow.
Appreciate the insight. Intel is offering grade 7 (which I feel is fair for 4.5 YOE). My one concern about intel is the direction in which it’ll go in the next few years.
15nm to 20nm
ICT3 for Apple, right? I'm assuming it's bay area hence the larger base but RSU's look too low for ICT4.
Yea ict3 for Apple. RSUs seem low to me as well but not much I can do about it now.
Yeah it's up to par with your Intel offer so that's likely as high as they'll go. Refreshers are really good though which makes Apple TC very good (at least for HW).
Damn, I feel Apple really lowballs you on RSUs if you're not from another FAANG. It's unfortunate, but I'm sure life at Apple will be a lot better than Cadence or Intel (I'm ex-intel myself). Congrats on the offers!
Appreciate it! I know I got lowballed with the RSUs. Especially now that I read Apple offers 120k RSUs to new grads too. I guess I shouldn’t care about what others make as long as I feel I’m making progress and moving forwards in my life.
It is not common for Apple to give new grads 120K RSUs unless they have multiple FAANG offers.
Intel quarterly bonus is not 10k/quarter, it’s more like 10-14k/yr for this grade (G7 I presume), so that info is wrong. Stock refresh is only 10-20k/yr
I guess then when the recruiter referred to quarterly profit bonus, it meant cumulative and not per quarter. Thanks for this input. Appreciate it.
The stock refresh will be much better at Apple. I'm G9 at Intel (outside Bay area) and my "150%" exceeds RSU grant for 2020 was ~35K. I'm relocating to other Bay Area company now for ~2X pay compared to Intel.
May I ask what role is this for at Apple or Intel? How was the interview process like at both companies? And whats the current TC at Cadence?
I worked at both companies, 10 years at Intel and 1 year at Apple. I really felt they both interview the same way.
I'd probably take Apple, but that's the strongest Intel offer I've seen for a MS+4yoe. You must have done great on your interview, congrats!
Thanks! I did alright in the interviews I guess. Competing offer must’ve pushed them.
thats an insane offer from intel. how come no one is commenting on that. what m i missing. at 4yoe they hire u at g6. there is no way g6 gets 155k base pay and 100k rsus. What is the team position ? soc or ip ?
SoC. This is for G7. Honestly I was a bit surprised too that they almost matched the competing offer.
Ohh. So u informed them that u had offer from apple. Wat was the original offer. Also ur compa ratio will be > 100%. U ll have to justify that pay every yr. Anyways imo go for apple. Refreshers will be nice n dey will have solid projects. From blind it looks people moving intel to apple r happier even if wlb takes some hit.
Intel Offer seems too good! 3 years vesting ??? am I dreaming ! Which group are you joining op. And yeah is it IP or soc
