Hi folks, Thanks a lot for all the help over the past few months.I have 4 offers at the moment and I'd appreciate your help with evaluating them. FB: E5 Menlo Park 180K base 500K RSUs 20% bonus 50K sign on TC: ~350k I'm not very keen on joining fb since I'm not a big fan of their boot camp. I've heard first hand horror stories about their team placement after the boot camp Google: L4 Bay area GCP team 165K base 415K RSUs 15% bonus 30K sign on TC: ~295K I was looking forward to some good offer from Google, but this one seem a little bit disappointing. Microsoft: L63 Redmond Azure team 165K base 200K RSUs 10 - 15% bonus 50K sign on 25k per year TC: ~265K for first 2 years Good team and manager. I just don't prefer to move to Redmond. OCI: IC3 Redwood shores 170K base 360K RSUs (6K units) 50K sign on 25K per year TC: ~295K for first 2 years I really liked this team and the manager. However, I think it will be very difficult for them to add more to TC. They also tried to uplevel me but I couldn't clear the IC4 interviews. TC: 210K Yoe: 6+ Thanks!
FB: What horror stories? If you are a general hire, you can choose a team after the boot camp. No forced placement
My friend didn't get the team she wanted and had to choose from a random team which she didn't really like. Also, wlb can be improved
Wlb for sure but i would say it’s her fault to choose a random team to begin with. She can wait and check more. Plus, changing team is easy after a year. So it’s not locked
Congrats on the offers! Are these after negotiating?
Thanks! Yes.
Just checking as others will ask. I would go with location first as there’s no point in moving to a geographical location you don’t want to be in just for a job. Then I would look to see where you would feel comfortable being for 3 years. Take reorganizations into account as you might get stuck with another manager in this time frame so maybe check around with the sister teams to see if they also are good (does the Blind internal boards help here?) . I’m not in FAANG but this is what I have done for all my jobs in F500 companies. You are in a good spot. You can always keep Google as a backup for a year so you might want to keep it in your back pocket. For me, I would choose Google, then Microsoft as I highly value WLB and a solid organization (I know, I know it’s team dependent).
FB no question. Even if comp is not much higher than the rest, starting at E5 is the differentiator.
If you want life Google. If you want $ FB. Shouldn’t be considering for OCI and Microsoft.
FB, you can re-interview and join google later as L5
FB
You should consider refreshers and salary hikes in making decision as well. Certain problems can be dealt with changing team and others need a job switch. That said Msft has despicable stock refreshers and hikes. Your TC will come down after 2 years. Fb has amazing refreshers, how are things at Google?
Google is paying way less than FB. Join FB and go through their boot camp. If you didn't like it, you can switch to Google later. And do post you FB interview experience
Hey OP, can I DM you?
I think you can ask google to bump you up to L5 and show them your FB offer.
I interviewed for L5, but they downleveled me to L4. I'm not sure if the level can be raised.
They like to lowball from what I hear. If you’ve got an external offer, you can go hard ball on them. Remember you’re the guy that has 3 great offers. You have the option to walk away
