Walmart Labs is offering me a position as Senior Engineer IN4. Currently working as consultant in Morgan Stanley for past 2 years and have a good reputation. They are trying to retain me as a full time employee and offering to match Walmart package and a VP position. Genuinely confused between the two. Please provide honest opinions and which one to choose. YOE - 7 Current 26L Walmart CTC Base 40L Stock 8L JB 3L #tech #bangalore #walmart #morganstanley #offer
Compensation both are providing?
If u have been provided with same pay n u r happy with current work , why do u wanna switch
Because walmart is a great place. Have been hearing a lot of good stuff from some colleagues and they are investing in India I believe. From what I understand, its gonna be a new project.
Thumb rule, always get a good hike and switch unless u r frustrated with current work or something is really appealing
@OP why not take the offer match from Morgan Stanley right now and switch job after 1 yrs with higher TC.
Wont switch for couple of years
@op I am going to join walmart soon for the same position the only thing I am not clear here is walmart CTC is combination of base + variable (25 percent) + stocks (25 percent spread over 4 years), if your base is 40 then stocks should be of 10 how come it is 8, and where is variable? And as per my opinion walmart is better then Morgan Stanley
Are you joining as IN4? Bangalore?
Yes, joining tomorrow.
You seems to be good employee if company if ready to match the CTC and keeping you. But at new company there is a chance that you might not like the work or people or anything. So don't leave for same CTC at least. Atleast get a bump of 30+% before jumping. Company doesn't matter in the end if you are happy and well paid. And MS isn't bad name compared to Walmart. Many of my good friends left Walmart in less than 2 year.
I would say new adventures might make you learn a lot of things. So I would still go to walmart even if they matched the offer.
From where I'm sitting in EUT, tech stack is a pile of garbage and things move frustratingly slow compared to when I was in tech. However, there's great emphasis on wlb and if I were moving to tech I'd consider that too. Walmart is def gonna grow in India but so is MS. MS could be more secure. VP also happens to be a big deal but consider the potential hit to wlb I'd say.
My job in USA is probably coming to a town near you soon. Walmart idc is growing.
Morgan Stanley. WM is a shit show.
TC or GTFO

I would consider future growth, salary and pick the one that will have more opportunities 5 yrs down.
