I received a job offer to work for a software consulting company in Michigan, but I don’t know if it was good or bad, I am Mexican currently working in Mexico. The company is offering me 70k/year as a full-time W2 employee. Any advice?
Too low
Thanks to all for responding, I can elabore a little bit more, I am software engineer with +4 year of experience in software development. I have never worked in US, so is exiting for me, I would move with my wife (no kids) but I just want to make sure 70k would be enough for both of us. The offer is for Ann Arbor, Should I take it?
Take it if they give more. Ask for 85K. How badly do you want this job?
I totally want it, this will be a great international experience for me.
I’ve been on TN for 2.5 years, I’m a Mexican, I got a offer for SF as an Senior Software Engineer in Test for 125k and It was a consulting company, others had offered me up to 150k, and that was when I had 3 years of experience, my man, NEGOTIATE! No one will say no, they will try to lowball you but always shoot high, they might accept it. It’s good to know your worth, check pages like Glassdoor, you might get an estimate.
Need more details on the job and your experience. 70K is low even for Michigan
