I just received an offer from BofA for an engineering role. They offered $150k, no RSU, and highly discretionary bonus. The title is VP. This is under my current TC by a bit. I'm struggling to understand how the pay is so low. Is there some sort of perk or benefit they're not informing me about? Why would I take a pay cut to work there? TC:$180k
No catch. Bloated titles and low pay = banking 💀
Because it is BOA. Tier 1 in the banking industry
VP in financial services is equivalent to Sr Dev title. Everybody pretty much is some kind of vp or director.
Not director but vp yes
Also should note that this whole process has been very drug out, nearly 2 months passed from tech interview to offer. During the initial tech interview one of the engineers let it slip that a lot of people left recently lol. I just don't get them.
What location/region?
West but not coastal
Everyone is a VP at a bank.
The most they've offered me is a credit card
VP in banking is not the same as VP in tech
Yep I get that. I guess I'm wondering how they hire anyone with such low compensation.
Curious- how many YOE do you have? What team/org is this?
The perk is you barely have to work
not on every team
which BoA teams work more?
Did you tell them your current TC?
I gave them a round number near my TC. Now they're going back to the HM to see if they can offer more. Surprised they're not even trying to meet it.
Wow… then again, seems par for the course if you look at how they treat their customers.
