Got an offer from Liberty Mutual, but not entirely sold on the HM. Is there an internal policy of how soon I can change my team? i liked the space and team. Trying to evaluate the worst case here in case I reach a point that i need to change my team..
Are you going to be a underwriter? If not, why would you go there?
Oh my god you are going to regret it if you hop ship there. They are the textbook definition of process-worshiping dinosaurs, the complete antithesis of Amazon or really anywhere where you want to grow personally or professionally. The only situation I’d ever go back is if I literally didn’t want to ever do real work again. Your skills will atrophy there Anyway sorry I can’t remember what the policy was to switch teams, but it was not nearly as organic as amazon is. People have been with the same teams/orgs there for 20+ years. Most people just left the company before switching teams
Sorry I should have mentioned this earlier, this is for a friend who is switching careers. I just pasted it in his words. Thank you for sharing your perspective, will pass this on to my friend.
What's the TC? have a friend thinking of applying
$90k in their business team
What are the hours like? The offer letter states to report at 8AM. Not seen something like this written in offers typically
They’re going to pick your friend up in the lobby at 8AM. Unless it changed the last 3 years, hours are 37.5 hours a week - 7.5 hours a day. I was out the door by 3:30-4:00 almost every day. It’s too easy there
Starting in 2020 it will be a 40 hour work week. Schedule will vary based on team. Some Seattle teams will work 6AM - 1PM to match the east coast.
Trust your gut. If you’re not sold on the HM then don’t accept. A bad manager can seriously torpedo your career inside the company.
