Hi all, my wife got an offer from Workday and Paypal, The workday offer is a very generous offer however requires the use of Xpresso as a software application engineer. Meanwhile Paypal would be a full stack position with Java and react We wanted to know if choosing the workday offer would be harmful for my wife's career. Would her skills be transferrable within and outside the company at workday? Also any comments on work life balance?
Mind sharing level & TC offered ?
Can u share the interview topics
Blind cliche : TC or GTFO. (No offense meant. Just wanted to be dramatic)
no.. her skills won’t be transferable
No TCs, can't respond
TC or GTFO
I don’t know what is Xpresso, seems like an internal tool(generates code for you). I would not join if I were in your spouse shoes. Look at the previous posts https://www.teamblind.com/post/Workday-Xpresso---Software-Development-Engineer-Offer-hL1yZ1d8
Some of the workday apps roles use react these days so she could embellish those aspects more on her resume
XO is very limiting and its a non transferable skill. If your wife is looking for a chill job and ok with not learning anything useful for the future go for it.
@viol would it be worth it if you have no other offers in this economy? In particular if you keep studying systems design etc, on the side to transition after a year?
I would say yes. The onboarding process itself takes about 2 months. It's pretty chill with the only downside being anything you learn will be pretty much useless outside of workday
