Got a few offers at 320k, 330k, 340k, what is the strategy to get the 340k offer higher?
- Use 340k offer to get better offer from 320k company - Take the better of the new offer or 340k and use that to get a better offer from the 330k company If that new offer is higher than 340k you're good to go, if not you're making 340k
Eh you have one last chance. I called my #1 offer and said that I really like them and that if they could raise my comp by $X I’d join and sign that day. Recruiter got super excited (maybe I asked for too little?) and said they’ll get back to me. She got back to me within a few hours with what I asked for and I signed.
Why are you leaving Facebook I thought FB was the dream company?
Money ain't everything! Take the offer that best butters your bread!
How does one negotiate if they can’t even spell it? GL..
That’s probably why he’s getting ass pipped at Facebook
So you want the highest offer to be higher - is that what I am hearing - is that ???
Yes
Did Facebook pip your ass?
Are they busting his cheeks on a pip?
It doesn’t matter how much any of the other offers are actually for. The individual you are negotiating with won’t have access to them unless you explicitly tell them, at which point you’ve lost your leverage. Choose the offer where you want to work most and then ask for something above where you’d be happy to accept. Be fully aware that none of the companies have to budge at all but if they want you enough they’ll try to make it happen. Having multiple offers just gives you more flexibility to actually walk away when someone doesn’t meet your demands. Your approach doesn’t actually have to change whether or not those other offers exist.
Its strange that you got offers in sequence numbers. Unless you have already negotiated and asking question in the middle of negotiation. If not, I would choose one best suits my need and if thats not 340k, just ask one you want to match or better than 340k without telling which one you would ultimately choose.
There are a lot of variables in an offer: base salary, annual bonus, stock, joining bonus, vacation days, flexible working patterns, etc. Figure out what your priorities are and put it to the recruiter that you want more of whatever that is. If you give them a couple of things you are interested in that gives them more options and I think you’ll get a better outcome. Emphasize what a great company you think it is, what a great fit you see the role and team being for your aspirations, etc. You don’t need a competing offer to negotiate a better deal.

Without mentioning your current TC, YOE, or the names of companies which gave you an offer, you’re not going to get a lot of help.
