I told the recruiter that I need H1b transfer then all of a sudden they are not sure about extending an offer anymore. The visa issue wasn't specifically mentioned during interview but I revealed it in my job application. Is it even worth the time to persuade how easy it is to transfer?
Wtf - it’s common they do all these visa transfers. Are you a software engineer?
What role ?
What stage are u at ? HC cleared ?
It's non-tech role. Cleared HC and got the offer number already
Not related but what is HC?
Hiring committee
Then you should get offer.
They worry about taking too long for the transfer and all the other traveling risks.
Google should be the last company to rescind offers based on visa status. Isn’t premium processing still on ? Also, being a product company and with a google brand, chances of denial are close to 0. Something is amiss .
Google understands it. But the hiring manager might not
They can put you in pool if HM wants to hire someone else soon. Can't take back the offer
Unbelievable! Sorry to hear this. Show the google offer and get a raise at your current company, or use the offer to negotiate with another company.
Google is Equal Opportunity Employer. They cannot refuse a job based on Visa status.
I don’t think it works that way.
It does not apply to H1b hires.
These days for a h1b visa transfer to go through without an rfe, the company needs to show that your skill-set does not replace an American worker. Not so easy if you're not in tech. They need a high skill occupation code for LCA. What's your role?
PgM. Well it worked when I came to Fb
Things have changed a lot in the past year. For me, when I was moving from company x, the new company's lawyers asked me to get a letter describing my skill set in great detail from the employer x, when I was actively working for x. Can you imagine getting such a letter from your company when you haven't yet told them you're going to leave?
Which company?
