Staff Software Engineer compensation at John Deere
Hi All, I was offered a FTE as a Staff Software Engineer at John Deere in Urbandale, IA recently. How much base salary and TC can I ask for without being rejected outright? Any guidance from your side will greatly help me in negotiating a better package. Thanks!
What did they offer in the offer letter?
idk about staff but maybe new grad offers can give u a better estimate. a new grad joining their 2 year rotational program is 90k/year. i was given the choice to go straight into specialization (data engineering) and that starts at 101k. it was 3 days in office and 2 days WFH. there were staff engineers who were remote on my team though but my team was a part of the tech branch. urbandale is the ISG group which tbh is the boring boomers lol

Staff Software Engineer should put you at a Salary Grade 9 on the "Tech Payscale." The midpoint pay range for that is $147k and could be 20% higher or lower to be between the min and max pay range for that salary grade. Additionally, you'll get up to a 42% bonus, depending on company performance each year. 401k match is generous. I think another 14% for new hires. Let us know what kind of offer you get. Very curious what offers new hires get. Most of us who have been here a while are on the lower end of the newly-inflated payscale.
Are all staff level engineers in same pay scale? For example I'm curious of power electronics engineers in electrification team. Also location wise, is there a difference, like Iowa, Fargo, ND, Cary, NC. Lastly I am curious of senior engineer salary band and bonus. Thank you
