I am going thru a background check now and am being asked for w2 or paystub from when I started at my current role which was 10 years ago. The adp portal doesn't have it. Hire right says the only alternative is for them to contact my current employer. Anyon dealt with this before?
Btw you can tell your current company its for a loan or other reason. The bg check company won't tell them the reason.
Wouldn’t tax returns include this info? Do you have them?
This. You can get a tax transcript from the IRS (available online).
Might also work if you’ve been with the same accountant for the last 10 years as they’ll usually keep records
Did they call you or is that what it said on their website? They usually just pull it from talx. Also, 5-7 years is usually the cut off, so just use your earliest paystub.
They specifically stated that they want documentation covering my dates of employment.

Not dealt with this but at most I save all W2s forever, another option is IRS tax filing records and yet another one Social Security statement if acceptable. Neither of these will have employer name though
If your companies used ADP (most do) then just log into ADP. You will have all prior paystubs and W-2s.
LOL imagine having a 10 year background check done. I never had anything like this for any job.
You can get all your W2 from IRS website the way I got it when needed
