Are there companies that hire good part time developers at decent rates on an ongoing basis? I feel like I'm the only one on my team who doesn't moonlight on the side, but I'm not sure where to actually find these side gigs and don't want to ask at work. Surely there are companies who need more capacity to meet deadlines, work through backlog, improve test automation, etc. Would love to pick up a consistent 10-15 hours / wk at around $60-80/hr after taxes ($100-120/hr if 1099). Agencies charge double or triple this to their clients. Maybe I just need to reach out to local agencies and see if they could bill me out as part of their team on a freelance basis? I'd add virtually no cost to them if I'm working from home with my own equipment.
No? It's odd because we all make this on an annual basis, and there's a shortage of good developers. Why is part time work not more common, even if only for certain types of projects?
I'd rather be embedded as part of a larger team on an ongoing project (even if working mostly in isolation) than quick turnaround / throwaway projects.
