Imagine being at Google for less than a year, getting SCI'd as your tenure is less (hearing mostly nooglers are getting SCI -precursor to Google PIP), then doing LeetCode and system design prep, appearing in on-sites while most likely also going into the office. Comparing multiple offers, negotiating, deciding on one, saying no to others, filing paperwork for the Visa transfer process, waiting for that to complete and to get the physical receipt notice(can take 6 weeks). Finally putting in your two weeks - you've most likely also received the new employer laptop at this point too. Then learning your offer is rescinded. I know he couldn't have done two jobs being on a visa, but this is so sad.
https://overemployed[.]com/layoffs-by-meta-and-twitter-are-they-unethical/ This is insane, without the [] you can't link the overemployed website, that means they're trying to stop users from visiting that website
Maybe they’re blocking it because it is trash
Aww who hurt you? Was it Elon Musk shitposting on Twitter while holding multiple jobs? The higher-ups can bend contracts and have loose laws for their multiple jobs, but people like you and I are screwed the most
This is why you shouldn't even put notice in until after you start a new job. I had a month of overlap to be safe and that was when I joined Google! These are bloody times
Yeah a day's notice is the only logical thing in this situation. And also not rejecting some offers perhaps
It’s not logical. Recision isn’t common. What’s logical is not trying to change jobs in this kind of environment. Even if you do successfully switch you can be the first to go in a sudden layoff. Maybe if you’re on PIP, one day notice is tolerable since you won’t be rehired at the company anyways.
I've even heard PIPs can be rehired depending on the situation
What do people with 2 jobs put on their resume?
Probably their first role
The more prestigious one /s
When he got sci he would've been less than a year, visa transfer process takes one to two months, he'd have to have gotten all his on-sites done before that. His tenure is 1 year 2 months counting December too as LinkedIn does that. That means he would've been done with all on-sites and accepted offer in September or before, so he would've gotten SCI before mostly sometime in July/August if he's super fast with interviews etc, otherwise he would've gotten it before
That's true he could've not been a top performer. Does Google also offer you severance to resign earlier when you get a pip, like the world's best employer does?
Is no one going to point out the google guy was PiP then went to Amazon the king of Pips lol
This is like telling everyone; Hey, I am not good. Hire me please.
Been there done that
I should not say this but nowadays people overhype Google or Amazon offer...they do unnecessary show-off. Plz be aware faang is not the only company to work and being in Google or faang doesn't mean some one is superior...
Yup. I’m making as much as FAANG boys without any of the pressure and better work-life balance.
Have you been on this app or the tech industry for a while? People are crazy obsessed over anything related to FAANGs. It doesn't matter if someone is barely competent, barely knows their domain or is a complete nut job/ass, people will still drool for such folks solely because of the FAANG tag.
Trying to link the overemployed[.]com website is banned on blind? Wtf
Good. The less that know of OE, the better
People can get fired for doing this
