I was recently targeted for Google voice spamming. A guy at craigslist, asked for a 6 digit number that he will send me to verify if I was a real seller. I have never used Google voice before, maybe that's how people verify these days, and gave him 6 digits authentication code. When I later searched the internet, I came to know that it's a scam for people outside the US, to obtain phone numbers of Google voice so as to call other US residents and scam them. Google can easily stop this. Or at least give me a way so as I can cancel all the numbers that are not "actually" verified by me. Google is perfectly aware of this fraud. They have given good documentation to assure the consumer that their safety or identity is not in danger. But have not given a way to stop it. I wondered why? Google by providing fake phone numbers to scammers knows what numbers are from Google voice and what are genuine. If you buy Google pixel or Google Fi they can block unauthenticated numbers else what do they care about. America loses 10B in spamming every year because these tech Industry has given them way to create free phone numbers. This could be stopped. Easily. TC : 160k

Women, help me understand why this is inspirational
Nobody ever calls for 6 digit code. Why would you give it to a stranger? I think you bear some responsibility here.
I do. I was naive. Many are. But the point is not that.
