Hi , I am expecting an offer from Oportun for an Engineering Position . How is the work culture at Oportun ? There is not a lot of information on Blind .. Any inputs appreciated !
Work culture is pretty good. They were really flexible with WFH before the pandemic and leaders give a lot of trust and autonomy to how people work. That being said, their technology isn't the greatest though they are investing more to streamline operational efficiencies this year. I really like the CEO. He is very transparent and answers some pretty tough questions in front of the whole company. He has a good vision but I am not 100% we will be able to execute based on that vision given current organizational and technological infrastructure Note I am not Eng so take this with a grain of salt
Thank you for the detailed information !
Whay was the offer?
OP what was the offer? I'm curious as I'm interviewing with them and can't find anything on their comp and RSUs
Their base salary is on par with market standard for the position.. but RSU's.. Joining bonus and other things are not
Sooooo.... are you going to post the numbers ? Standard market compared to what? Varo? Banks? Tech?
Total experience 8+ years.. Base offered 185K .. 5k joining bonus. RSU worth 25k

I interviewed there before joining LendingClub. I'd say the culture depends on your team because it's a very small company
I see.. thanks. Did you get an offer from them ? If yes.. any reason why you didnt take it up ?
I did. I didn't take the offer because I wanted to stay in the city and avoid commute to San Carlos. That's no longer a good reason now. Also the tech stack
