Considering applying for Optiver for a security engineering position. I know that the HFT field doesn't have a reputation for WLB, but optiver seems to have somewhat positive reputation. How do the working hours look for people there, both for the particular roles they are in and security engineers? What would one need to expect going in? Thanks! #optiver
Working hours are typically 9-10 hours a day, the only security engineers I know of work on securing our email servers

45-50 hours on avg, a little more intense than an "average" job but relatively chill compared to how bad other HFTs can be. My team is sort of goal oriented, if you need to flex hours in/out it's no real issue so long as you're not falling behind on work. I have always been allowed to take vacations, no issues there either
Got it. Thanks for the information. Would you be open to granting a referral if I decided to apply?
They get tens of thousands of applications for each position
Pretty much. That wasn’t my question though
