I am not sure how many people this affects. My whole team is spread out around the country. Most are not near an office. Manager is 3000 miles away. If I went into an office I would be by myself. I was hired remote. I know a lot of teams like this. Oracle is known for this even before the COVID. So it may only affect teams near the office. There are rumors on the oracle only forum about 5-10% layoffs coming in the next few months. Its supposedly already budgeted in the public filings. The posts were from someone claiming to be an M5. This may be a way to get people out without severance. Word is oracle is not hiring in Seattle/Silicon Valley or Manhattan since last year to cut down on wages. They do have offices in a lot of states. However, there are a lot of people who live no where near an office. They likely make a pay equivalent to the area they live as well.
ANGER
There’s a thing called relocation. They can ask those away from office to relocate if they want to enforce RTO.
Sorry to hear this, OP. It’s amazing how out of touch execs are when it comes to forcing everyone back to the office. If I’m working remotely due to geographical concerns, what makes you think that you pay me enough to relocate and take a potential TC cut just to commute to the office. I will never understand the obsession with returning back to the office, as if face to face communication is some holy grail that execs think will increase productivity. TC: 90K, fully remote
Director friend there told OCi going to hit 15% layoffs
oh no!
Why would OCI lose so many after such profitable growth the past few quarters?
This could’ve literally been said in 2 sentences
@op how many days a week is the biggest question
Yup saw this email come through. I’m also ~500 miles from an office so I’d be shocked on logistics. They’ll have to keep people a lot of remote or let go. Heard from some IC1/2 that they got asked to move to Austin and some next year to Nashville for the new office, but nothing higher. Also got a bunch of mandatory all hands meetings for today for what look like either orgs being centralized or layoffs. Edit: I’m non-OCI for those DM’ing me and curious. In a very profitable GBU though.
Bingo - please keep us updated on if the all hands call result in layoffs.
Does not appear to be layoffs right now at least for non-OCI. They’re merging organizations in the Non-OCI groups. All consulting groups in the company will be one major group now instead of separated by business unit, and everything Product under Mike Sicilia is merging into major groups.
Quiet layoff
RTO for OCI teams in Seattle too? I am interviewing with them.
Yes just heard major core teams in core areas will be in office. Some employees may be labeled flex if they can negotiate it if they live there. Anyone 50+ miles from an office is apparently able to be remote, but this is all second hand so I can’t confirm 100% accuracy.

Screw it. Don't care anymore. Let Israel take it. One state solution.
