Can anyone share their experiences on the difference between applications developer and software developers at Oracle? I'm currently interviewing for an applications developer role. From what I can tell seems like both are "software development" roles, but the products are different? Will I be less hirable in the future with an applications role? #Oracle
Typically application developer is a title under Fusion Apps org. Ladders are the same.

Stay away from app dev
Any particular reasons why? I'm just trying to understand if it's a bad long term career choice. Unfortunately was laid off so I'm thinking any job is better than no job at this point, but I can always keep looking.
At huge companies like Oracle, app devs usually build stuff using crappy internal toolkits. You end up becoming proficient in languages and tools no one else uses. E.g. SAP devs who only know ABAP.
