I'm waiting on an offer from Oracle that will double my salary, give me the chance to build a new department and provide career growth I will never get at my current role. Despite that I am getting Snickers and eye rolls when I have told people. What gives? Can Oracle really be so horrible that I should pass up this opportunity? Seriously what's going on?
If you don't have visa issues and are ready to work hard, there's no reason to not take the pay bump and added responsibility. Just be warned that OCI has a reputation of being trigger happy
I'm sure TC is good, but my god. OCI is the worst cloud platform I've ever used. I hope you get a chance to make it better.
They can snicker about where you work while you can snicker about how much more money you make. I'd take that deal any day.
OCI being bad is irrelevant. Great leaders either build things from scratch or change a bad situation in the company into a great one. People wanting to join the best Cloud or the employer with the best brand are not necessarily the ones who can create value. I would say go for it!
There is a ready they are paying you double. Easy money, something is fishy , right ? After tough interviews, Google doesn't even match current salary sometimes
There's nothing fishy about demand and supply.
Fuxk the people. Do what's right for you. It's not everyday that I get an offer that doubles my TC. People are either jealous or morons.
OCI is horrible, the leadership is a joke and many of the people are toxic, incompetent, or both. I found it a terrible experience in many ways. It’s also a hell of an opportunity to extend yourself. People mocked me and scoffed, and I laughed all the way to the bank and a better role and better pay elsewhere because I got priceless experience. So yeah, go for it. Know that it’s likely gonna have a lot of shiftiness, but make of it what you can. I don’t regret joining, and I don’t regret leaving.
Which location were you at?
Seattle
