I don't have much information about Oracle as company or working there as Software Engineer. 1. What kind of projects they are working on? Wlb and culture? 2. What is the equivalent of Principal at FANG? Can I trust levels.fyi mapping? It falls between 4-5. 3. How is the engineering talent quality? 4. How is the pay for this level? #tech #oracle #oci
I think levels.fyi mapping is wrong across companies. They compare it based on TC and not based on scope of work.
Then Microsoft Principal L65 would be equal to OCI IC-4 if you're only thinking about compensation. It's the scope + compensation. L65/66 = IC-5. 63/64 = IC-4.
I think levels.fyi is correct in this case. IC4s at OCI are similar in talent level and career progression to recently promoted senior SDEs I worked with at Amazon (i.e. high L5/low L6). At G/FB this would be more like the lower part of the L5/E5 band.
Spot on
About 1-3 out of every 10 engineers is IC4 if that says anything. IC5 is about 1 out of 20.
What is the scope for ic5? Part of a team and focusing solely those projects?
Architect with scope across multiple projects within multiple teams. Usually report to a director or higher.
