Does pip culture exist in cyber security teams (appsec, devsecops, incident response etc) at Amazon too? How can one avoid getting pip ? #cybersecurity #security #Amazon
Do not get influenced by all comments here on Blind. It can vary by Org. I work for the Technical Account Management org and it is very odd to get put on PIP. You really have to do poorly at your job to get placed on it. My two cents, Amazon/AWS are hiring all over the place. If you don’t like the culture after a year you can leave. Having the name on your resume will open doors left and right. It’s up to you to decide what you want. If interested in applying feel free to DM and I would be happy to refer you. Just make sure you don’t apply to the role before hand. Good luck!
Thanks I really appreciate it. I saw some posts where people got pipd after 3 -6 months of starting. Lol.
Thats somewhat not frequent but not rare as well. I saw new grad got pipped after 6months twice and no matter how bad or good they were i doubt it could happen at other company
PIP is real. Its true that not everyone gets pipped however definitely one who got pipped at amazon would face pip or stupid dev plan or watever things very rarely at other company. Regardless, just think about this. Do you want to work under the random pressure and want to do guessing game periodically what does manager intend to tell you? There are many sneaky way that manager can do at amazon and reorg is more stressful than other faang for sure since your manager will control all more than necessary compare to others But the value of working at amazon is that you will never have a time to procrastinate and evetually will learn a lot (can be good or bad depends on your taste)
PS I love working at here but sometimes very tired
Fish rots from the head down and Amazon / AWS PIP culture is applied from L8 down in their Orgs... all Orgs / all the time / twenty four seven / welcome to the PIP factory.
Yes all orgs and all lvls probably except L8+? Is under the pip risk
That is scary. I’m thinking of applying at Amazon.
I think Amazon can be fine if you're early in career and have a constitution that can take the pressure. Don't plan on staying more than two years.
