I am a PMT and being considered for PM T role at G. I have received positive feedback for PM role, although I am asked to appear for coding interview to be considered for PMT role. I dont code and dont think I can learn to code now, although I understand the fundamentals. Should I just say no to PMT and go for PM options? Is that decision going to bite me later on?
It’s worth learning some basic coding skills, as you may hit this roadblock again in your career. Maybe learn some Python basics, and you’ll be able to sorta code on the whiteboard more easily than you’d expect. Look for a beginner’s tutorial online. I’m picking Python because it’s probably the easiest to learn and use.
I agree and am trying to do so but then its too short of a window for me. I can tey some pseudo code but I may flunk
I don't think Google has equivalent of Amazon pmt. Their product manager role is basically the pmt role.
Yeah, Amazon has non-software products where they hire PMs for but for the case of Google, those roles are few and far between. All PMs at Google have a CS degree and generally code.
No, not all PMs have a CS degree. Not for a long time. This was somewhat true while Marissa was around.
