PMM to PM role @Facebook
I am considering moving from a Product marketing manager role to PM role. Currently a L5 PMM at Facebook. I have a tech background and I have experince working with Engg, design and analytics. YOE across web & database developemnt, analytics and marketing - 11 years. How difficult would be to switch from PMM to PM within Facebook? I know I can do the job well if I am hired. I have been working closely with engg teams over the last 1 year and I like working with teams on building products. Should I consider applying to PM roles outside of Facebook? I read that you will be hired at a lower level if applying internally. I don’t mind it if the comp stays the same as L5 PMM.
From my understanding you’ll have to go through some regular PM rounds, then get down leveled, and also need endorsement from an exec (Director+). Someone can correct me.
PMM is way less important than PM. Gunna be a hard move
