PSC fear at Meta & Enployee unions

I'm not sure if setting a percentage for mandatory minimums and creating PIP (Performance Improvement Plan) victims is actually helpful. It does make sense to penalize truly underperforming individuals, but do maintaining quotas only create fear? Also, employee rights in the US are brutally harsh, even compared to those in Asia. Employees receive nothing even after serving a company for over three decades. There are no retirement funds other than 401(k) contributions. Why don't US employees actively build unions, despite working more extensively compared to Europeans?

On the flip side it’s much easier to job hop to higher pay in the US.

One of the strongest unions in the UK is RMT which is why train drivers earn more than most doctors and SWE's here. We should unionize

Every company that is pushing employees for BS performance is going to be at risk of unionization.

Pip systems are even enforced in high performing teams with resources having varied skill sets. That makes it illegal - someone gets randomly picked and pipped. Usually it's the introverted and silent employee

At will employment...being introverted isn't a protected class. Definitely not illegal

It's illegal because they are labeled as low performing, which is not true for many who get PIPped

Look at wages in other countries, why do we want to be like them again?

this is how capitalism works, it allows for the highest possible pay due to the constant competition of employees / companies for the most flexibility / efficiency. at the expense of more instability and ruthless culling of lesser employees
