Entry level FDSE at Palantir NY or SDE at Amazon SF. Priorities being: culture, technical growth, product interest.
If you have any morals, stay away from Palantir
FDSE is a different enough role that you should decide mostly based on which role is what you want. Do you want to be flying out to customer sites and working directly with them every week?
I think the (evil) mission and role interests me the most about Palantir, and I actually like the role of FDSE because I think it might help me transition out of tech if I ever want to. I guess my concerns are regarding work life balance, culture, and also lack of technical depth. Don’t want to pidgeonhole myself into a data engineering/tech support position lol
TC for both needed?
Go for TC
Manhattan is awfully fun if you’re young. And the mission will probably be very cool
Go to the one you'd be proud to be in
I've hard FDSE will vary a lot on where you are placed. Come work do work for customers you can be proud to serve.
Hey, I know for Palantir there’s a final hiring manager round. What was that like for you? I know it must have been a while ago but just wondering.
Sorry, what’s FDSE?
Forward Deployed Software Engineer. It’s like a SE/consulting hybrid role that apparently involves a lot of traveling.
Thanks, xqc!
