Parents want me to quit and move home
I am in my late 20s living happily with my gf of many years. Have been very career focused with good career growth (TC 400). My parents are constantly complaining that I am growing apart from the family, asking me to get rid of my apartment, break up with my gf, drop everything and move back home with them across the country and get a local job close to home (Starbucks, Walmart, etc) so I can spend more time with them. They are threatening to disown me if I don’t do this and other threats as well. I am very stressed and not sure how to handle this…
Disown your parents.
You’re an adult, “No” is a complete sentence. If they want to threaten to disown you, just treat it like they already have.

Why can’t they move near you?
Is it something you “want”, “need”, or “choose”? If not then don’t do it. Beware of people telling you you “should” do something. Typically that involves guilt or shame. Don’t ever do anything out of guilt or shame. Feel free do it if it’s something you truly want/need/choose to do.
They sound super controlling. Are you an only child? Maybe they’re lonely? Take them on a vacay and reassure them you’ll always be there if needed.

If you had said your parents live in Bentonville, and asking you to take a job at Walmart or your parents live in Seattle and asking you to take a job at Starbucks, I would have believed you (parents asking to come closer to home and give up Meta for one of the non tech company). But here you mean “parents are asking” to work at local Walmart or Starbucks and give up a $400K job. Troll all the way. Or May be the layoff hit your brain really hard
Invite them to come visit you, or give up their home to be near you. If they cared this much- they would do that
