Part 2: DS to SWE at FAANG learning path
Part 1: https://www.teamblind.com/article/DS-to-SWE-learning-path-YbjfkejC?cid 2 YOE as DS. No MS or PhD. Medium-strong in Python. Weak in Java (2/3 of one course in a Coursera specialization). Weaker in Scala. No coursework on algorithms. Lots of aptitude for programming. I have been recommended to take coursework on algorithms and then solve leetcode problems. But I’m weak in design patterns and system design. When should I study these topics?

Looking for more thoughts. What do you guys think? Should I spend time studying these topics before interviewing? Or should I just focus on algorithms and LC? Interviewing about one year from now (hopefully).
