I would avoid. I hear that they donβt have good economics and growth is slowing sharply. I canβt say more.
Hmm..thanks. when did you hear this? Just wanting to make sense of the period in which the growth might have slowed down. I hear last year they doubled their processing volumes
Iβm curious; what does Facebook Retail do?
Avoid. A friend used to work there and told me it's flailing.
Thanks for the input. When did you friend work there? I saw they launched 3 separate pricing tiers earlier this year. Did your friend leave them this year or before?
Early this year.
As a user I think a lot of influencers/creators prefer Patreon, never heard of the others.
User as a creator or as a patron?
Patron for over a year
Patreon was pretty cool but they increased their fees by a lot, and now charge the creators something from minimum 7% of their monthly donations, up to 12-15% don't remember exactly. But it's worse than before. Still a nice service, but got greedy.
Hmm
creators can choose what percentage bucket they are in though. if it upped to 12%, itβs because the org is offering more services. but again, the creator can opt out. not a bad thing to be growing in options. paying additional for them is given.
Patreon recently raised $60m.. that tells u ... Investors are still betting on it...
We hanging in there. π
Will love to hear more :) how's your outlook for the company?
Bump :)
When this question was asked a year ago, Patreon was not doing so well. It's doubling growth was slowing. The outlook at the time was 50/50. Since the pandemic, Patreon is hitting it out of the park. Yes it still has issues. It's management is not experienced in keeping the great performers there because Patreon doesn't pay bonuses, increase salaries, or give options the way they should to incent great people to stay so even though they say they pay for performance, they have no clue how to do it right. It's like they are deliberately playing dumb about this when they can afford to acknowledge it and fix it to stop losing great people. Not worth staying past 2 years, though because they got rid of their stock refresh program that kicked in after 2 years. They are stingy with options and that makes everyone who came in post Series B stop caring about their IPO. I would bet on Patreon succeeding all the way to an IPO one day despite its management not understanding things. I like working here for now. The mission is cool. The people in charge are mostly cool. And how can you not like making it work for artists. But I do get other companies calling me and their competition is offering alot more money and options and those offers are tempting. If Patreon doesn't change I won't be here much longer.
To answer the rest of the question above, FB and YT have nothing on Patreon. Patreon was the original one to create the ads-free payments to creators. FANG are the imitators.
A year later, are you still there @eNso35?
Anyone who interviewed here care to share their process?
i know they are always late paying Patreon content providers... like ALWAYS ... wondering if they have funding issues that no one knows about like Movie Pass
