Stripe is supposedly one of the best-paying companies for SWEs, according to Blind. But from looking at the data points on Levels.fyi, the pay seems…average? Here are the 5 most recently added L3 base salaries I see for Stripe: 223k 226k 217k 198k 235k It’s not low, but not exactly high either. I mean sure, they get a lot of RSUs, but they can’t do anything with those RSUs unless Stripe IPOs someday. And who knows when or if that’ll ever happen. Am I missing something? Are the base salaries reported on Levels.fyi for Stripe just inaccurate? Edit: Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought L3 at Stripe is equivalent to senior. #Stripe
Stripe will claim to be everything, all at once! They have never paid Faang comp and the people who made it, did so due to the 15-20X valuation increase over the past 5-years!
Who are the “people who made it”? Do you mean early joiners of Stripe?
Early joiners and esp from 2016/17 - 2020/21 timeframe.
Once you hit senior level, base salary doesn't tend to go too much higher than 200-250k. At those levels and above, well over half your pay is in the form of equity.
Right. But at public companies, getting lots of RSUs translates to lots of money. Getting lots of RSUs at Stripe is worth $0 until they go public, isn’t it?
A year ago people were banking on a big exit at IPO
Stripe recycles their employees every 3-4 years so no one is sitting on pile of millions of $$ (vested RSUs) at Stripe. Also, that pile of cash is worthless unless they go public.
i know lots of people sitting on millions worth. every L3+ who joined before Dec 2019 for example
Ok. But how many will stay there till IPO? What will be the list price compared their grant/vest price? When will the folks be allowed to sell their vested RSUs post IPO? Compared to folks who joined FAANG around the same time frame, do you think Stripe folks will make more money in 5 years post Dec 2019?
How many yoe is l3?
It is new grad 😂
I’m under the impression that L3 is senior at Stripe
Fintech is dead. Avoid at all cost.
What’s your take on high for L3? Best I’ve seen is $250K give or take. Compared to that, it’s achievable with enough competing offers to negotiate with stripe. Significantly better than Spotify
Isn’t L3 senior at Stripe? L1 is entry level, and L4 is staff. Naturally I assumed that L3 is equivalent to senior
Ok makes sense. I was imagining L3 as entry level. The L3 avg in your screenshot is a half a mill. That’s pretty good imo. Sure a lot is stock pre-ipo. But the salary is in the Senior range so that’s fine. Just stick it out and aim for L4. If you don’t make it, just see if there’s a chance to IPO.
Pay at Stripe sucks. It's definitely not where recruiter hype it.
A lot of folks on this thread who have no clue how money works. I am constantly amazed at how tech folks are supposedly great at computer programming but still lack common sense
That’s now low
