It is demeaning and is often said from someone more senior (especially leadership and managers) about someone less senior. If I’m a resource, then what do they plan on doing once they “use me up”? Your opinions please?
Grow a thicker skin
If you can be used up, there was not much of a resource in you to begin with.
It’s called Human Resources for a reason. Public companies pursue profit. Employees are a capital expense. So yes, resources
They are not capex they are opex
How are employees not resources? You're hired to be a skill resource to the company and get shit done. That's it.
🤦♂️ This is an example of a bad resource...
Stop being a crybaby
As hurtful as it may feel, a company's goal is profit. Everything at that company is a resource or tool to profit. Sorry. It is what it is.
I blame it on the word. It seems to have negative connotations. But in reality it's a fine word. Being resourceful is a good thing. My director on multiple occasions has used the word resource with my manager in CC. I don't give a shit. I just care about doing my job well and getting good raises.
Get over it
Very helpful comment, thanks!
