What’s so bad about pronouns though? South Asian folks sometimes have names Americans can’t immediately tell if male or female. Helps with multiple things
Sure. Alex, Jordan, Jamie, etc are common Anglo names that can go either way. If you fall into this category, please select option #1 as you are misgendered often enough for this to help.
Thats like such a specific use case to have pronouns in your profile. Plus, there is usually a photo accompanying the name. You are probably not be doing this on purpose, but you’re looking at the conclusion and backing into the rationale by using edge caes.
I just don’t give a shit, I don’t do it but if you want to go for it. I literally have bigger things to worry about.
Like… Godzilla?
Exactly.
I do it so people know I’m gay. Cis straight men are too sensitive to put them on their profiles.
Please provide more context on how pronouns help others know you’re gay. Are you insinuating that any cisgender male who puts pronouns in his profile is a homosexual?
I’m half joking. But yeah pretty much.
You left out: I’m not misgendered, but by listing my pronouns it creates a space for those who are to list theirs without being outed for it.
That’s generally the sentiment behind the second option. I didn’t use the “safe space” language, but it you’re trying to show solidarity with people who fall under the the non-binary/trans umbrella, please select option #2
Stop making this not a safe space OP, stop telling them what to do. Should have added that option.
So that others can learn to put their TC on blind posts
How about I have a name that most Americans can’t figure out it’s male or female?
Yes that would fall under #1 as you are trying to avoid being misgendered.
Johnny finds it unamusing when people misgender her. To wit, OP do you think misgender the same as mis-pronoun?
Cis people who put their pronouns in their profiles are 🤡
Not really. Part of accepting transgender people is normalizing the discussion of pronouns and different genders. If only transgender people put their pronouns then it marginalizes them and makes it harder to discuss the subject and created less awareness. Your attitude is immature and mean.
The whole point of cis people declaring their pronouns is so that it's easier and less scary for people who aren't cis to do the same thing. You know, it's to help someone else who might be struggling. Not that you give a shit about helping someone, of course.
Also there are other countries/regions where they hire certain role in certain gender, the biggest complaint is usually they don’t know if the candidates are the right gender, so this is helping them too.
wtf are you talking about? What regions hire certain genders for certain roles and use Twitter or LinkedIn pronouns to screen? This just sounds horrible.
That would be India https://d2u3dcdbebyaiu.cloudfront.net/uploads/atch_img/95/13a159aa62e57fc116c9fd9dbf064e9c_res.jpeg
What bothers me is the need to have both “she” and “her” or “he” and “him”. One tells you what the other will be.
Not necessarily. Some people like he, but then prefer them/theirs, as an example.
I’m sorry, I don’t follow. You’re saying that they would say “he/them/theirs”?
It’s virtue signaling at the highest order
You have not seen no hardcore virtue signaling. I prescribe you to lurk in LinkedIn for a week. If you can survive from extreme cringing then come back and rethink your above comment.
