My work laptop was a Mac for 3.5 years, does that count?
The hardware is great, however, the software sucks big time. I run Linux and Windows on them.
I used it in several companies but I really don't like it. Apple software engineer sucks.
one of my old friends had a MacBook he used for k8s stuff, remoting, etc. he eventually just got a high-end chromebook and called it a day for a while, dunno if he's still using it for that. I honestly hate the keyboard on macbooks. it feels so bad to type on, but that multi-gesture trackpad is cool. walled garden of mac os will always suck. I am considering a mac mini for cross platform mobile stuff.
Yes, use it for work. Don't hate it per se but would much rather be using a ThinkPad with Linux. But I'll take a Mac over anything that's not a ThinkPad and Windows.
What do you like most about the ThinkPad?
The keyboard and trackpoint!
Used mine as a Windows/Linux desktop with the laptop always shut. I could've made $950 from selling mine. But I didn't want anyone else to deal with it, so I threw that shit in the garbage. Apple software is AIDS.
Yes. Macbook Pro. Spend the same amount for a Windows PC and you'll get much more out of it.
It's the best balance of Unix/ terminal and other important stuff like connecting to random device and not needing to worry about the lack of a driver or something. I use a Mac and Homebrew for terminal, emacs, docker, pycharm and chrome. So essentially I use Unix.
Then just get a laptop for 1/3rd the price and install unix on it, 🙄
I don't want to care if my printer will work or not. True story. And dual booting sucks.
I worked for Microsoft and was a big Mac Basher. Till I used Mac. Now I realize what a stinking pile of shit Microsoft is. Microsoft is the definition of mediocrity. If I could ever find the guy who was in charge of Windows 10 I will beat him/her with a baseball bat.
That was Terry. We let him go.
I'm the opposite. Been using MBP for past 8 yes. Recently joined Microsoft and started using Windows10, it's actually not bad. Get powershell configured and the Linux subsystem looks promising. Things that r good on mac: hardware, Unix like terminal, instant sleep/wake. Rest are OK. First party software are usually pretty shit.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Hated them until I owned one (bought it used off a friend for cheap). Now I respect them much more, but still prefer other OSs
