So seeing some discussion about raises I've noticed two things about Uber. Levels seem to be public, performance review happens two times a year and your rating is given in a number. Can one describe this in slighlty more details?
Is it percentile based (curve) or strictly based on your perf?
A curve is applied, but there is no stack rank
Performance review actually happens 4 times a year, but some teams only share the scores for midyear and end of year. The idea is that your score shouldn't change drastically between each review (i.e. +1/-1 in one category)
We're rated on potential growth and past performance. Most get a 3 for potential growth and a 3 for past performance which is meets all expections. Obviously, the baseline expectations are very difficult so some fall below to 1-2 which requires improvement. 4 is very strong and 5 is exponential. It is very hard to get a 5 in potential growth and past performance.
If you get 3/4 are you expected 4/x next half? What if you get a very good potential for growth but did not realize it?
