Recommendations on a personal trainer? Needs to focus on weight loss and fitness. Knows how to work with a middle aged person. Someone that doesn't just go through the motions, but can be pushy and effective.
Do you have any experience with working out before?
I'm mid-30s. I used to be an athlete as a teenager into early 20s then I let myself go. So yes, in the past I worked out.
Not really middle aged yet
Personally, prefer not to use personal trainers considering their cost but would definitely consider for motivation though!
Cost is a secondary factor
Go on keto diet.. my friend lost 80 pounds on it.
I’d just eat Kabobs all day
Hey I'm an SDE with an athletic background. I have a six pack, I powerlift, and do kickboxing regularly. I have a lot of amateur athletic friends and 2 US Marine mentors/friends. Truth is that personal trainers are apathetic scum that train you incorrectly and see you as a cash cow. See the truth about getting results is that you need to put yourself through a lot of pain both physically and mentally. Trainers can't afford to do that or else they might face potential lawsuits if you get injured. So they make you do workouts that don't benefit you. Also 60% of results come from dieting properly, which they don't mention. Unless you are really committed don't work out. Most people quit, so it's time wasted. You're better off setting aside time to just walk or run 1 hr a day. Don't forget to diet.
Also many trainers are on steroids. They will pretend their results could be achieved naturally.
Do you do cardio? For someone who want to loose weight, so you suggest just cardio or a mix of cardio and weight training given that the person is already dieting.
Use the free one at work?!

You might want to talk to a dietitian first about the weight loss. Working out can only do so much, changing your diet is the real key
Yeah good point. I'll do that too. I'm serious about getting long term results.
