Hi, I have PM offers from both companies. - Salaries as TC are close, C1 gives cash bonus for 2 years to match offer but not sure what happens after that. - pinterest is remote - C1 is 2/3 days office - C1 is 1 level higher than my current level but little room for growth. Pinterest is 1 level lower than my current but promotion possible in short term. Scope is similar for both. Impact may be more at Pinterest. In general what do you think about their eng culture, work-life balance, opportunities, etc. I am in between to select. Benefits are way better at Pinterest such as remote, unlimited pto etc. However, level issue is concerning. Thanks.
When you got the pinterest offer, did they give you any hints that you passed the interview in the email. Or did they make it a mystery until you were on the phone with them?
Talked with them on the phone actually. No hints before the call.
Pinterest. Cap1 is going back to 3 days in the office. Whoever told you 2 is waffling on what Rich said which is that 50% in office is a minimum. There are loads of threads in our channel about people who were promised full remote too and forced to come in. Cap1 is also ultimately a bank and at higher levels beyond just churn out this feature you were told too, there is an exceptional amount of red tape.
Level and role? I’m biased towards pins of course but I’m surprised cap one is offering similar TC
I believe op said pins offer is for one level lower hence the comp is similar
Still surprised 😅 good for OP

An year ago I would have said Pinterest but now i d vote for job security. Also cap1 is a great learning platform and relaxed work environment. Perfect place to lay low and learn while weathering the layoff storm.
Job security? At a bank? You know about the bank runs right? Besides Capital One does plenty of layoffs. I was laid off from there about 5 years ago. They did lots of layoffs and it wasn't due to widespread economic conditions. That said, their layoff polices were great. 5 months pay at principal associate level (between senior and staff levels). But there were no stock grants.
Pinterest for remote option alone
OP which offer did you go with?
Pinterest gets my vote
