Hi all, I wanted to get some advice from the blind community and see if anyone has pivoted from the game industry as a programmer to something else. Up until now, I thought I wanted to be in games but I’ve realized this might not be where I want to start my career. I’d love to work at maybe a game adjacent company like Roblox, Meta (VR), Apple (VR), or NVIDIA where I can still retain my skill set that I’ve developed so far, but I know I have to grind and get better at leetcode to pass those interviews (Actively working on it). What other companies can I try and apply to where I can still retain some of my primary skills (C++, Python, Linear Algebra, Game Engines)? TLDR: How do I pivot from a gameplay programmer from the game industry to a different non-game industry company? #tech #games #vr

How about Crypto or Fintech firms? Or the other "gaming" (gambling) industry
I will start to look into Fintech firms, I appreciate the advice. I’m not really interested in the crypto industry and I would rather not work in gambling unless I had no other choice.
I’ve done the same. Don’t overlook quant trading or finance firms like HRT, Jane Street, SIG…etc.
Hey I appreciate your response! I’ve looked at some and the work seems interesting, but from what I’ve seen their interview processes are really tough. I definitely need to grind more leetcode before I apply.
SIG interviews aren’t as tough. Also, a lot of those firms recruit video game professionals because they care about low level performance.
