Planning for a special needs kid

I have a special needs kid and I am looking for ways to set them up. My kid probably can get a minimum wage job ( with training) and I could fund the remaining. The only other idea I have is to start a business/ franchise and also employ my kid. But this would require leaving my day job. Here to hear ideas from other parents in similar situations. I understand that special needs covers a broad spectrum of abilities.

I am not in a similar situation as you children wise but I’ve been looking for some franchise opportunities as well which I could do with my spouse (who doesn’t have a job at the moment), where u could work there weekends and she could manage the weekdays in my absence. Are you open to an idea of a franchise in a partnership?

Set some fixed income plan for them first. Moving to LCOL area would also help . I am not sure of the details . But wish you find a good way to set it up and find some peace of mind.

Depends on how severe they are. Mental health INS. Lot of cases is a spectrum and severely difficult to ballpark solutions to as each case is truly unique and faces their own challenges by their diagnosis and the limits from it. For example if they are severely impaired, once they turn 18, usually there are government assistance programs you can place them in where you can essentially dump them off, and leave them. It's not permanent institutionalization as you can take then out if needed/wanted, and they often have caretakers. I used to work for one for folks who were low to mid functioning autistics comorbid with other conditions
