I am planning to quit Microsoft in September. Relax for a month, prepare for interviews and interview for 4-5 months. Just thinking about quitting makes me smile. But few uncertainties: When do you think tech job market will turn around? How costly is it to get COBRA insurance for my family (2 kids)? Blind tax: 700k tc, M2, 17 yeo I think partner level is achievable within 12-18 months, but I am burnt out and cliff in September. #insurance #medical #health #jobhunt
What is your TC post cliff ?
Probably 500k. Didn’t do math
I can tell
You’d be better off staying and interviewing starting in September. Take FLMA, whatever you need though.
Really demanding project, micromanager, highly visible project. So not possible to prepare while still have job. Don’t you need a medical reason for FMLA?
You don’t really have to get into FMLA. Most of the people suggesting it don’t really know what it is. You can just get unpaid leave of absence. As it sounds like money isn’t really that big factor. Talk to your micromanager that you feel burnt out and need to take some time to recharge. You micromanager should be able least partner, so he/she will understand
Listen to me little bro. I have 3 YOE. You should stay for partner and then hop.
We are hiring for L3 if you’re interested
I was L6 at Google. So no thanks
😁
Take a leave of absence if you burnt out. If they lay you off while on leave, at least you’ll get severance. Reevaluate your options after the leave
Winter is coming to TC.
Wow 700k
Yeah, Microsoft can be competitive.
When is it competitive on TC? How can you get a competitive offer?
Pretty sure COBRA costs 700K a month, per kid
Lol I just went through it today - $900/mo for premium - company is paying most of it for 3 months but I will cancel after that
To be clear, if you can’t afford COBRA on 700K you’ve got some real budgeting problems This whole thing reeks of flex
Do it. Best time is spring/summer when most people are traveling/ out
You crazy
Lmaoooo
