I see my YOE is maybe on the lower end, but then again looking at levels.fyi IC4 offers in Seattle, there are a good few entries above my offer with the same work experience. I’ve got pending interview with Google Apple Facebook. Would oracle match if I got offers from them, realistically? Any other advice? #compensation

Not true. Lots of teams are hiring. Mine is. Oracle is also doing campus hiring. Target around 450+ for intern or fresh grad from colleges.
All posts are about openings in India and Austin for experienced engineers. College hire is cheap labor anyway 😊
Ic4 to 5 will take at least two years assuming you are in a team with pretty big cross team scope and you deliver. Multiple cross org managers and ic5s have to sign off. Not easy. Most likely won’t happen unless luck aligns and you are really good. Ic5 standard aligns well with 66 I would say. But it spans 65 too. It should cover 67 on the top end.
Thanks for the detailed response. If I am not fortunate and don’t make IC5 in 2 years what kind of compensation increases can I realistically expect? Or will I be stuck at the same salary I was hired at ?
Most like new ic4 hire to ic5 will take three years in my opinion. It takes a while to set up your reputation. Should be able to reach 400 at least as a good ic4

Got asked LC easy, medium and hard. Though hards I was doing with the interviewer and we were both struggling. All but the hard were algo questions in a system design context E.g. design a rate limiter
Good thing about ic4 is that you can get good refresh if you are top 20%. Like 200-300k over four year good. Stack them up and now you have no cliff. You can actually climb.

I guess tired in my current role/org. Not convinced I’m learning what I need to learn. Want to do more distributed/web dev work and work closer to customers. Get away from word/excel c/c++ legacy codebase. But also TC. With a good bonus my comp is about 250k but peers moving to Facebook/Google and even amazon and getting 80-150k more. Having fun/learning number 1 priority but wouldn’t say money isn’t important. The 4 year cliff is a problem. The SSAs are still not great. I don’t want to sound ungrateful - I really appreciated the SSA from my boss but I know what new hires and peers make elsewhere. The 4 year cliff and lack of good new stock grants at Microsoft has been talked about a billion times on blind and it’s a major factor in my decision. But yes, I do worry I’ll live to regret this decision.
I think I know who you are and you are an awesome dev. But really you are worth a lot more than 250k. You work in the telemetry space right? VWYF.
