Hi Blinders, I am an MBA grad at a NON top 10 school (think about the likes of Notre dame or Wisconsin Madison) MBA and have seen people from Harvard/MIT/Yale etc. get crazy salaries. Curious to know what you all think of this offer: Base pay: $115,000 Bonus: 10 percent paid annualy No stock options No relocation No Sign on Bonuses Therefore Compensation would be around $125,000 annually. Love the company (think of non FAANG ecommerce companies like Kroger) but hate the fact its east coast (not a fan of the brutal cold). Additional data: I am an engineer with 3 years of work ex. I also have Amazon's MBA internship on my resume (Sr. PMT intern). Also, I am international student who will need sponsorship and this company is willing+able to do that. It is still very early and I will be recuriting till the end of June, but does this sound like a decent offer? Any advice would be helpful
What title exactly are you aiming for?
I am aiming for a product manager title :)
Hi, can you share which school you went to? Is there any bias among FAANG towards top10 schools when it comes to hiring PM's from B-School? I am a prospective b school applicant hence the curiosity
MBA grads from non top 10 schools including the ones you mention get 200k+ (not a crazy salary by any stretch) for returning as Sr. PMT at Amazon so I don't understand your rationale behind segmenting b schools based on rankings. Granted that there is a higher correlation between school ranking and TC, but for your profile and career path (ex engineer looking for PM type roles) school ranking should not make that big of a difference. Of course, if you were looking at IB/consulting roles, situation would be different. Edit: to answer your question. Focus on gaining PM skills and switching to a FANG after a year or so (if you don't land one by the time you graduate)
Thank you so much for the reply. I couldn't convert my internship to full time at Amazon. Since this will be my first PM full time job, I will definitely try to heed to your advice and acquire skill set to switch to FAANG. But I sincerely hope I can land a better offer :)
